RFID readers from Sesam
Our touchless readers use 125KHz RFID technique. The electronical keys, often named transponder or key cards, are passive components. That means they contain no batteries or other energie sources. A RFID transponder needs very little energy and is supplied by the RF-Field of the reader. Therefore only small reading distances are possible. Generally only a few Centimeters.
The readers have a very low energy consumption. A standard reader needs approximately 85mW ( 12V / 7mA ) to 120mW ( 12V / 10mA ). A plus reader needs approximately 460mW ( 12V / 30mA ). A Mifare reader needs approximately 600mW ( 12V / 50mA ).
The reading distance of the Sesam readers depends on the case and lies between approximately 2cm and 14cm in maximum. The reading distance depends also on the transponder type. With a card transponder and a suitable reader a larger distance is reachable than with a key fob transponder.
Other Products
For access control also 13,56Mz technique is used. The transponders are passive too and get also their power out of the RF-Field. Generally the power consumption of 13,56MHz readers is higher and the antenna is a little bit larger.
For the 13,56MHz systems "Mifare" and "Legic" we offer readers with optional keypads.
